Introduction and Atmospheric Structure

Overview

This chapter covers the scientific method, basic techniques for interpreting weather data, an introduction to atmospheric pressure, and the composition and structure of the atmosphere.

Once a learner has completed this chapter, they will be able to:

  1. Understand the scientific method.

  2. Interpret basic weather data.

  3. Distinguish between permanent and variable gases in the atmosphere and list the major gases in each category.

  4. Describe how pressure is created.

  5. Identify and describe the layers of the Earth’s atmosphere.
