Informational Video on OERs

SMART Goal:

To create an engaging and informative video that explains Open Educational Resources (OERs) in an easily digestible manner, keeping the duration under two minutes.


Specific Steps I Took:

  1. Researching OERs:
    • Conducted extensive research on OERs, gathering insights from academic articles, consumer feedback, and reputable OER platforms.
  2. Writing the Script:
    • Composed a concise script that simplified the concept of OERs while ensuring the tone was approachable and informative.
  3. Using Fliki for Video Creation:
    • Used the Fliki platform (https://app.fliki.ai/) to generate the initial video based on the script.
  4. Editing and Refining the Video:
    • Identified and corrected any errors in the AI-generated text.
    • Replaced certain stock video clips with more suitable visuals that aligned better with the narration and the intended message.
  5. Finalizing the Video:
    • Reviewed the entire video for coherence, quality, and impact before considering it complete.

Notes on the Process:

Creating the video was both a rewarding and challenging experience. Fliki proved to be an invaluable tool, but it required manual intervention to align the visuals and text with my expectations. The iterative process of editing text and replacing stock videos helped me refine the content into a polished final product. This experience highlighted the importance of balancing automation with human oversight.
