About the Author
Elliot Mead, WRT Faculty and REA Department Head, is an over-invested full-time faculty member at Pima Community College.
Elliot’s disciplinary expertise spans composition & rhetoric, literature, honors research, and gender and queer theory, though their teaching dedication is in foundational writing and literacy. They possess extensive, applicable knowledge in contemporary pedagogies, curriculum development and design methods, and classroom and outcomes assessment practices that promote student belonging, engagement, and critical thinking & consciousness. As a colleague, Elliot strives to contribute to a College climate of transparency, authenticity, and kindness.
Elliot holds a PhD in English from Stony Brook University and a BA in English from Western Michigan University. Their long-ago PhD research is in postphenomenology, digital surveillance, and social control and he continues to be personally and academically curious how human experiences and understandings are mediated by tools, environments, and technologies.
In his spare time Elliot can be found enjoying long walks in the desert, lizard-watching, home-futzing, and hanging out with their pets, partner, family, and friends.
