Chapters 10 and 11 Introduction

This section on Western art begins with the great innovations of the Renaissance period, highlighting famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael. We will examine the exaggerated forms that signify Mannerism, the drama and emotional intensity portrayed in the Baroque, and the lighthearted and ornate Rococo period. Finally, we will explore the more solemn views of Neoclassical art, the brilliant colors of Impressionism, and the innovations of Modern Art.
