The Purpose of this Toolkit

This toolkit was created to support adjunct faculty at Pima Community College in navigating the many systems, policies, and processes that shape your experience as an instructor. Being an effective faculty member at Pima requires not only strong teaching skills, but also the ability to manage logistical and administrative tasks, many of which may require support from various stakeholders within the PCC community. This resource is designed to meet that need by guiding adjunct faculty to the appropriate resources to support them in all of their duties.

We know that starting any new job without knowing where to turn for help can be overwhelming. Adjunct faculty often have limited time and access to the informal support networks that help full-time faculty learn how things work. That’s why this toolkit centers one primary goal: empowering you to seek out the information you need, when you need it. Whether you’re preparing for the first day of class, figuring out how to submit final grades, or trying to understand your pay schedule, this guide is here to point you in the right direction and help you know what questions to ask and who to turn to in order to get the answers you need.

Importantly, this toolkit is a living resource. It will continue to grow and evolve based on adjunct faculty needs, changes to college systems, and feedback from the people who use it. It isn’t meant to replace training or official policies, but rather to help you connect the dots between institutional resources, clarify where to look next, and feel more confident in your role. You don’t have to know everything on day one, but you should feel equipped to find answers and advocate for what you need. That’s what this toolkit is here for.
