5 Faculty Development, Supervision, and Support:

Key Department Head Duties

• Participates in faculty recruitment and development.
• Serves as the direct line supervisor of a designated group of faculty and/or staff.
• Conducts established employee evaluation processes, including reviewing student feedback, reviewing feedback from other areas of the college, conducting classroom/online observations as appropriate, meeting with employees to identify opportunities for ongoing development, and submitting official evaluation forms.
• Serves as a point of contact for faculty certification and teaching qualifications.
• Supports faculty and staff in the area supervised to meet College and area objectives and promote professional growth.
• Works with area leadership to complete approvals required in college policy for individuals supervised.
• In consultation with the Dean, limit or eliminate online teaching opportunities for faculty members who do not meet the Criteria for Faculty Members Teaching Online Courses
